sketch monkey

I used the sock monkey taking photos a number of places. He helped me by shooting the photo of my feet in this blog’s header, and he serves as my avatar on a few social sites. When I needed something for the back of my cards, the automatic, and quick, choice was the sock monkey shooting photos. When I got the cards from moo, I realized that even though we are two separate characters, it looked as though I’m advertising a photography business. That’s unfortunately a very long stretch; I’m not a photographer by anyone’s definition.

I did use a photo of me taking a photo as an avatar for a long while. The humor wasn’t as apparent as maybe it could’ve been. I’d been roped into shooting photos at a company event. While there, a real photographer shot my picture and said the one person who never gets his picture taken is the photographer. Well. Some of my best stuff is in retaliation, so I stepped in to the men’s room and shot a “selfie” in the mirror. Whether my pants were up or down remains open to speculation. Missing the sarcasm, some people thought I was a photographer.

So with this latest batch of cards, I did a quick monkey sketching in a notebook like the one I use. He’s a newer monkey, too. After making a few sock monkeys recently I realized that “younger” sock monkeys would be a bit plumper, with even stuffing. My sock monkey, by comparison, is almost 55, and looks it. Maybe we’ll try a few different poses. You can’t have just one sock monkey.
