After ten years, an update: The Lion and I walk to a bench in Talleyrand park.
Lion: ‘This good? We ate all the cookies before we got here. Again!'
d: 'Aw nuts! It's a special day too.’
d: ‘Remember? Today it's exactly ten years since we left?'
Lion: 'Wha'd'ya mean, LEFT? We're right here!’
d: ‘Ten years since we retired. Remember?'
Lion: 'I remember the coffee wasn't this good…'
d: 'You got it.’
Later; d, thinking: 'I hate to wake him. I wonder if he'll notice if I leave?'
Much later; it's dark, the Lion is in the same position, now bathed in red lights.
